SAN JOSE, CA -- The aftermath of the recent San Jose State Student Student Initiative to restore a California State University (CSU) identity to the campus has resulted in the removal of a key SJSU administrator who campaigned against Initiative.
CSU student and alumni activists filed grievances with several state agencies after the vote, seeking investigation of possible violations of federal and state educational and civil rights laws by SJSU Associate VP of Marketing Jennifer Cauble and other SJSU officials. About a month later, Cauble mysteriously departed her position with the school without comment from the University with regard to the reason for her departure.
The Spartan Daily mentioned Ms. Caubles departure briefly, but characteristicly neglected any further reporting on an important issue for the school the Spartan Daily claims to cover in its reporting.
The official Student Initiative was to implement a SJS/CSU "alternate identity" at the oldest CSU campus similar to those already in place at Fresno State, Long Beach State and other CSU campuses. Despite a campaign by SJSU administrators to derail and then defeat the Student Initiative, 606 students, one in four of those who voted on the issue, voted for the measure.
San Jose State's principal protanganist against the Initiative was Cauble, who ed the effort by SJSU administrators to keep the measure off the offical student elections ballot and contributed to the campaign by University officials to distort public and media perceptions of the student-sponsored measure. |
